The 2010 NZ Tango Festival

The New Zealand Tango Festival. 24th - 27th June 2010

The New Zealand Tango Festival includes 50 workshops over three days, and three nights of dancing and performance. The workshops are all under one roof in a professional dance school with a central social area, tango related stalls, cafe and festival info. The two main milongas are held in the beautiful WellingtonTown Hall.

General registration for the festival opens in February 2010. Currently the website is showing 2009 information and will be updated in February, prior to that, any updates and information on the festival are announced via this newsletter, please email us if you would like to join. To make the most of the international teachers coming to the festival, we also offer four intensive three-day courses, which can be booked in addition to your  festival pass and run before and after the event.

Miguel Zotto and Daiana Guspero – Advanced Tango

28th, 29th, 30th June (Course including full Festival Pass $545)

Miguel Zotto needs no introduction, he is a living legend in the world of tango and lives and breathes the essence of the dance. The long list of achievements and awards Miguel has attained over the years is a testament to his love and deep understanding of tango. We are thrilled to have him staying on after the festival to give a rare and invaluable opportunity for a small group of dancers to spend three days on an intensive immersion course.
Miguel and Daiana will focus on the classic salon style, teaching techniques for men and women, towards a smooth and connected style on the dance floor (further description coming soon)

Alicia Pons – Milonguero Style Tango - int/advanced

22nd, 23rd, 24th, June (Course including full Festival Pass $525)

Alicia is internationally sort after instructor who shows how the tango of Buenos Aires milongas can be a most elegant dance, rich with style, musicality, and creativity for both men and women. She is highly respected role model for women's style, and is very effective in communicating to men the skills they needs to provide women an enjoyable dance experience. She is well known for being responsible for transforming the dance of many men and women tangueros to have greater sensitivity to their partner.

Fabrizio and Celi - Advanced Tango

22nd, 23rd, 24th, June (Course including full Festival Pass $545)
Sold out for two years in a row, this course without fail receives 10/10 reviews. Fabrizio is considered by many to be one of the best teachers of tango technique in the world. There is already a substantial list for this course so get in early if you want to attend. (More detailed course information coming soon)

Fabio and Ana – Intermediate Tango

28th, 29th, 30th June (Course including full Festival Pass $525)
Fabio and Ana’s immersion course gained rave reviews last year and also sold out. This years course will repeat the fundamental concepts learned in last year and develop them further to consolidate your understanding of the major components of tango.
Refreshingly clear and effective teachers, Fabio and Ana also have an infectious humour and flair. They will definitely take your tango to the next level.
