Level 1 - Beginners course
Next beginners course starts Thursday September 15
Level 1 - Beginners course

Starts Thursday September 15, for 8 weeks - 7:30pm to 9pm
Cost: $70 per person OR $125 per pair (one leader and one follower)
Includes practice CD
St David's Church Hall, corner Main and Rainforth Streets

This is an 8 week block of step-by-step lessons that introduce the rhythm and basic steps of Argentine tango. This course focuses on close embrace, musicality, navigation and the enjoyment of social dancing. There are no step patterns to learn (and then forget!), as milonguero-style tango is essentially an improvised dance; instead we will focus on simple movements and technique.

It's not at all scary, but can be quite addictive! If you've got any questions, feel free to email us or come along to our next practica and ask away (we may have answers - but no promises!).

A few comments from the previous courses:
"As a couple you easily conveyed the feeling and enjoyment you have for tango... thank you for sharing your knowledge and thoughts/feelings/ideas and your bodies."
"A really fun dance to learn."
"A good break from normality..."
"Something challenging to aspire to that looks great."
"Starting off with very simple steps and building on from there. Lots of encouragement and understanding."
"A stylish and exciting way to pass an evening (beats watching TV)."
"This class was far better than I had hoped - and I expected to enjoy it!"

Even if you've already attended a Level 1 course, doing it again can be a good opportunity to reinforce and get a deeper understanding of the basics. We still often attend beginner classes and workshops, because you can never cover the basics too many times; each time we've gotten something more out of tango as a result.

It is not necessary to bring a partner, but registration is required so that class numbers can be kept balanced (we will be working to achieve a good balance of leaders and followers, so no one will be left standing on the sidelines!).
