Dear milonguero friends,

This email has a two-fold purpose: we wanted to remind you about the forthcoming closing date for the Earlybird bookings: January 18 - just a week away. Register before then to guarantee your place in the classes of your choice, at a lower fee. Click here to reach the registration page directly .

And we want to send a special farewell to a dear friend whom many of you will know passed away last week. Susana Miller wrote the following message in memory of Tete, one of Milongueando's much loved teachers:

"Farewell Tete. Today is your birthday and you're not here to enjoy it or to enliven the milonga with your inimitable mischief and innocence. Your death creates a painful absence in a community that has known your indefatigable presence throughout 6 decades. Generations have developed under your light and your angel. On the dance floor, the table with your friends, the old guard of milongueros, will watch over you as they dance, which will be a way to express the sadness and the tenderness inspired by your memory. I know that if you were here you'd agree, with that lopsided smile of yours that characterised you, as you called: change partners. Farewell Tetito."

Please don't hesitate to write with questions about the festival. We look forward to hearing from you.

Un abrazo milonguero

The Milongueando Team

Dear Milongueando friends,

We're happy to announce that Registration for Milongueando 2010 is open and that first program details are confirmed. You'll find detailed information on our website: http://www.milongueandoenba.com

First Highlights of Milongueando 2010:

"Homage to Carlos Gavito", 2-class course with María Plazaola (Level C): One of the greatest milonguero dancers of his time, during his last years Carlos Gavito was anxious to pass on his dance and tango philosophy. In 2010 it will be 5 years since Gavito passed away. Maria Plazaola, his last dance partner, will give these unique classes in recognition of his enormous contribution to tango.

"Homage to Ricardo Vidort", 2-class course with Susana Miller (Level C): This year Susana brings us a two-class course working on the material of Ricardo Vidort, a man who was renowned locally and internationally for his exceptional dance. Milongueando 2010 pays homage to Vidort in order to keep alive the knowledge and the legacy he left to the generations that follow him.

Hola Tangueros/as

What a great start to the New Tango Year! 3-Days weekend of Pure tango with teachers from Argentina!

For the 2nd time around, Demian Garcia is back with a new dance partner Alejandra Mantinan for the Summer TangoCamp. Both teachers are internationally known and in highly demand in the tango world. This partnership promises to be an exciting & dynamic fusion of artistic style & technical excellence.

The event will be held in Auckland City, so just ignore the word ‘camp” as we are not camping this year but we are hoping to do this as part of our vision in the future (as previously planned). Going outdoors to the islands and enjoy the summer holidays with tango. We anticipate this will happen when the economy starts to improve.

Demian Garcia is a dancer, teacher & choreographer, with an impressive career based upon his integral artistic studies, performance skills & pedagogical approach to teaching Argentine Tango.

His impeccable teaching & performance skills stems from his intense focus & respect of the essence of tango, whilst at the same time being open to exploring new alternatives in the dance form.

Demian is a dancer in high demand, appearing in & choreographing for the highest quality tango shows in Buenos Aires & around the world. His extraordinary dancing & teaching has taken him to travel & teaching in the most prestigious international tango festivals
